The algorithm has been created with a cohort of 3,019 patients with allogeneic hematopoietic
stem cell transplantation that developed acute graft-versus host disease (aGVHD). Patients
were included in five German transplant centers (Berlin, Essen, Hamburg, Hannover,
Heidelberg). Several data-driven models were developed, externally validated on
independent center data and compared to conventional aGVHD grading. Data-driven
aGVHD models correlated with significant differences in clinical outcomes depending on the
evaluated aGVHD severity.
The algorithm has not been prospectively validated and treatment options were not randomised.
